New Website, New Project, New Everything!

 

Hello and welcome to my first news blog post on my new website!

 

A lot has happened recently, and this year is packed with exciting new projects. ThereforeI decided it was the perfect time for a fresh start—including a complete revamp of my website! Not only does it look more visually appealing but it also functions more smoothly. You can now easily find all the important information about my ongoing music projects, the latest news (like this blog) and even more exciting features in the future. Now, I've got something bigger to announce - Wels is quitting music... well sort of. Let me explain.
 

Introducing Votherium

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been building a new artist alias called Votherium, a project dedicated to Chillsynth music. If you’ve followed my releases over the past year, you know I’ve already explored Chillsynth under Wels. I quickly fell in love with the genre, but those tracks were more of an experiment than a planned direction.

 

Now, after gaining experience and improving my production skills, I’ve decided to make Chillsynth its own dedicated project under Votherium. By the time you’re reading this, I’ve already set up Votherium on Instagram, Bluesky, Twitter, SoundCloud, and Bandcamp. Once my first single, "Farewell", is released, I’ll update my Links page with Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and more.

Why “Quit” Wels?

Here’s where things get a bit complicated. If you’ve searched for “Wels” on music platforms recently, you might have noticed I’m no longer the top result. Another artist with the same name, making phonk music, now dominates the search with millions of streams and around half a million monthly listeners.

 

This has caused a lot of confusion — both for listeners and on the backend of music platforms. From being mistakenly tagged in posts to distribution mix-ups, it’s become frustrating to manage. As sad as it is to step back from releasing music under Wels, I see this as a great opportunity for a fresh start.

 

Votherium is just the beginning. I’m also working on a new furry themed artist project, which I’ll announce later this year. With everything I’ve learned and the amazing connections I’ve made, I’m excited for this new chapter.

 

But don’t worry, Wels isn’t disappearing! I’ll still be around, sharing updates, stories and even posting the ocasional DJ set or drum cover on YouTube.

 

Reflecting on Last Year

On a brighter note, I want to take a moment to reflect on last year and say a huge thank you for all the support and milestones we reached together!

 

Despite the challenges with the Wels name, 2024 was my best year yet. I released 11 songs (almost one per month!) and received so much positive feedback. With over 125,000 streams across platforms, I’m beyond grateful.

 

Some highlights include:

• My song Horizon reaching 10,000 streams
• An amazing collaboration with Wellside
• My track being featured on the Stereoscape Records Compilation and even released on a physical tape!

• And finally, the unforgettable moment when my remix of Ashii Box’s song "Planet" was featured on Electronic Gems.
  I’ll never forget coming home from work, checking my messages, and feeling an overwhelming wave of happiness. Tears of joy filled my eyes as I shared the excitement with friends and family.

 

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being part of this journey. Your support means the world to me.
